Biographical data

Győző Zoltán was born in Szigetvár, Hungary in 1958. After studying at the Vocational Secondary Art School in Pécs, he gained a place at the Collage of Applied Art in Budapest, where he studied under József Engelsz, one of the most outstanding goldsmiths in Hungary. He graduated in 1983, when he was awarded the Lóránth László Prize.

In the same year he married Erzsébet Kovács; they have three children. His wife is also a goldsmith, and much of their work is created together.

His first major commission was the lettering ont he facade of the Budapest Congress Centre. Int he course of his career he has made numerous signboards, inscriptions, portals, lamps and information systems throughout Hungary. He enjoys making metal sculptures, but is also happy to design and make practical articles.

Since 2001 he has been teaching int he goldsmith faculty of the Kós Károly Vocational Secondary Art School in Debrecen.
